Job Description:

The Cato Institute is seeking an Accounting Manager for its Accounting Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for a multitude of accounting activities to include daily deposits, general ledger reconciliations, payroll submission and year-end (1099) preparation. This candidate should have three to five years of experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area. A strong knowledge of payroll systems and procedures is a must, along with a strong experience with Microsoft and Excel. Payroll certification is a plus, but not a requirement.

Reason.tv – the online video journalism project of the Reason Foundation – is seeking talented individuals interested in advancing the message of Free Minds and Free Markets through video journalism and related multimedia productions. Reason’s top priority is talent: established and aspiring producers, videographers, editors, researchers, and marketing professionals will all be considered.

The Searle Film Fellowship at Reason.tv is a year-long, full time position that gives aspiring video journalists the opportunity to create substantive, original content that explores the ideas of free minds and free markets. Initial responsibilities will depend on experience and could range from research assistance to video editing to producing independent pieces to developing marketing and distribution plans. Fellows will also participate in training in production techniques appropriate to their skill level. Fellowships are full-time salaried positions with benefits; salary will depend on experience.

Resourcefulness, a willingness to pick up miscellaneous tasks and reliability are a must. The ideal candidate will also have a strong interest in libertarian ideas, the field of documentary filmmaking or video journalism, familiarity with shooting and editing, and content distribution and marketing.

Applicants at any level of experience will be considered. Individuals who are able to work from one of the Reason offices (in LA or DC) are preferred, but telecommuters will also be considered. Finance Associate

Washington, DC consulting firm is seeking a finance associate with a detailed knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles. Candidate should have an understanding of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, as well as the ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.  A working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting is imperative.

Duties:

Manage the all financial processes and operations, to include tracking expenditures of several different entities operated by firm.  Develop and maintain accountability reports which demonstrate firm’s spending by category, location, and entity.

  • Work alongside partners for budget forecasting and adherence. Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
  • Communicate regularly with firm’s outside accountant and bookkeeper to ensure integration and accuracy.
  • Oversee contributions and grant-making process, to maintain compliance, record-keeping, and reports.
  • Work on special projects as needed.

The fast-paced atmosphere requires a detail-oriented, self reliant professional  with solid written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task.  Bachelor’s degree in relevant field mandatory, prior experience not necessary.

Salary: $35,000–negotiable based on experience

We are a young, energetic website design, internet marketing and software development company based out of Arlington looking to expand our team.
