LOTR Happy Hour w/ Tony Ryan of LEAP

Join LOTR for another great happy hour in Denver! Topic of the night? Prohibition vs Legalization, with special guest Tony Ryan of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP).

Tony Ryan, board member of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, was a Denver police officer for more than 36 years. During his career, Tony received numerous awards from the Denver Police Department, including the Medal of Honor, the Purple Heart, the Merit Award, and the Community Service Award. He was also named Footprinters Officer of the Year and received a Life Saving Award from the Denver Fire Department. Through his experiences as a police officer enforcing the war on drugs, Tony has come to believe that our current marijuana policy is a failed policy for many reasons, particularly its effect on law enforcement. As a law enforcement officer with front-line experience, he will tell stories from a unique perspective and explain why a legalized, regulated model is the best approach.

civil asset forfeiture

What is Asset Forfeiture?

Asset forfeiture laws allow American state and federal law enforcement agencies extraordinary powers to raise revenues through the seizure of private property.

As federal and state criminal and civil laws multiply and are enforced by ever-growing bureaucracies, asset forfeiture has come to represent the most serious assault on the right to private property in the U.S. today, and is implicated in a number of serious issues of law and governance, including the federalization and militarization of domestic law enforcement, the emergence of de facto private prosecution, the existence of the War on Drugs, and the emerging regulatory burden faced by businesses operating in the United States and abroad.

Denver HH: Are There Limits to Privatization?

When: Wednesday, April 18 from 6-9pm
Where: Choppers | 80 S. Madison in Denver

Plus! Stop in between 6:30-7pm to participate in a new communications building exercise. We will be looking for volunteers willing to stand up and advocate for liberty (in the comfort of the bar of course!) – and we hope you will be one of them!

I want to give you the tools to build a foundation that will guide you to a consistent philosophy. I don’t necessarily want you to agree with everything I’m about to say, but rather, to use the guidelines of establishing first principles to form your ideals. I believe it is extremely important to constantly “check your premises.” First principles are those premises.

Freedom February

A Short Course in the Founding Fundamentals, featuring Dr. Thomas Krannawitter and his three part series of presentations and lectures in which we will explore the principles of freedom and the first regime in history built upon them, the United States of America. We will also examine the great challenge of preserving and advancing those principles in a world dominated by human slavery and the great Civil War that resulted, as well as the deep philosophic critique of those principles by progressive intellectuals and politicians, a critique that has been largely successful in undermining the authority of our Constitution and shaping our politics, law, and government today. The goal of this series is to help us understand better how we got to where we are today, and how we might improve our efforts to reclaim the limited government and free society that is rightfully ours.

February  15th & 29th, 7pm – 8:30pm at the Vanguard School Library,1605 D. South Corona Ave.,Colorado Springs.

Each seminar is $30

Liberty on the Rocks Happy Hour: Discussing the Financial Crisis

Join fellow liberty enthusiasts this Wednesday night at Choppers Sports Grill for happy hour, networking, and a brief discussion about the economic recession and the economy.

We will be joined by special guest Brian Ochsner, a political activist with an extensive financial background. He will provide a short presentation on the topic: “What Caused The Financial/Economic Crisis… What We Can Do to Get Out of It… and How Liberty Activists Can Protect Themselves From an Economic Downturn.”

During this brief discussion, Brian will reveal the causes of the financial recession, and share his insights on the only two options currently available to the federal government to fix our economic problems; explaining which option is the best, and which one is the most dangerous (guess which option our government has taken?!). Finally, he will provide tips and strategies for what liberty-minded people can do to protect their wealth and weather this ‘perfect financial storm.’

When: Wednesday, February 1st from 6-9pm
Where: Choppers Sports Grill | 80 S. Madison Street in Denver
