Rio Grande Foundation Hosts Liberty on the Rocks!

At our last Liberty on the Rocks in February we had 25 guests and a rockin’ good time at the Independence Grill in Albuquerque!

Legislative session discussion included the 133 “germane” Governor’s Messages that forced our elected officials to basically ignore the real issue of the session – the budget – in order to focus on the Gov’s supposedly germane issues.

We also talked about the $50K per day cost to taxpayers for the upcoming extraordinary session that is (once again) dedicated to “The Budget”.

A comparison of household budgets to the state budget included discussion of a family ‘tabling’ their budget discussions and decisions (as the legislature has basically done) while they focused on frivolous and unnecessary issues, to the soothing background of live, award-winning guitar music.

We were reminded that New Mexico’s Roundhouse is aptly named, since all they do is go ’round and ’round and ’round on the critical issues.

Let’s see if maybe we can get past state songs, award winning music and bolo ties this next session. After all, it’s costing you and me $50K per day for them to be entertained.

Next Albuquerque Liberty on the Rocks: Thursday, March 18th, 5 – 7 PM, Independence Grill in Albuquerque

We hope to see you there!
