Jan. 17th meetup — Ken Summers and Education Reform

Ken Summers – Up On The Roof!

“Education Paradigm”
Liberty On The Rocks (Red Rocks) Happy Hour
January 17, 2011

Liberty kicks off 2011 and MLK day with our goals for education and peaceful citizen advocacy in the forefront, with our very special guest, Representative Ken Summers!

Location: Old Chicago (upstairs) | 145 Union Boulevard, Lakewood, CO

Is education a choice? Do great teachers, students, parents, or the union make for great student achievement? Have we lost our way? Is Jeffco really a “local” district? If you get what you pay for, why do we not pay school board members? Do great teachers make great leaders and business executives? Will more money and more union input truly make for better students?

Bring your questions for Colorado’s own HD 22 state rep, Ken Summers. Rep. Summers sits on the state education committee at the capitol, is a pastor, and just one darn nice fellow! He will take on your questions about education reform, school choice, vouchers, and so much more. And I give you my word that even though he will be speaking in Jeffco, we won’t “CENSURE” him. And say hello to the two fiery redheads that will rock Jeffco in 2011!
Regan Benson, Community Activist for Jeffco Schools Accountability Group, is leading the charge for education reform in Jeffco. Her group will lead the way to ensure our school district is acting responsibly for every child and every tax dollar. No small task, so help Regan and jump on board. Our “David” cannot do it against this “Goliath” without your help! Contact Regan at or follow her on her Facebook page.

Brenda Smull is starting a west side chapter of Liberty Toastmasters, (a themed club focused on the US Constitution), which will help you:
* Improve your communication and leadership skills
* Increase your effectiveness at meetings and interviews
* Think clearly when answering impromptu questions
The group meets the second and fourth Thursday of the month.
Meetings will be held at Stevinson West (6th and Indiana) in Lakewood.
First meeting will be an exception to the rule and this demonstration meeting will be held on Thursday Jan. 20 at 7:00 the Sheriff’s Station 8100 Shaffer Pkwy, Suite 100 Littleton, CO 80127

Citizen Advocates’ Network is a great new networking group that I have recently established. Citizen Advocates’ Network is an informal group of concerned citizens choosing to defend their constitutional rights and promote free markets, individual rights, and limited government. The “C.A.N. Do” members will champion issues such as transparency, accountability, education reform, fiscal responsibility, property rights, other civic issues, and a return to Liberty-focused values. We encourage members to lead by example. If you believe in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and prefer to be a responsible citizen with limited nanny intrusions, this is your group! When you have an issue near and dear to you, please bring it to the groups’ attention and lead the fight.

Information can be found at our FB group page: Citizen Advocates’ Network, so please be sure to request to be added if you are on FB. Also, be sure to adjust your settings on FB if you don’t want to receive an e-mail each time we post to the wall at C.A.N.

For folks that follow us via e-mail, we have started a google group for those interested in participating in the Citizen Advocates’ Network. E-mail ( and I will add you to the group.

Those folks participating in the C.A.N. Group or who are interested in Regan’s Students First group may want to begin to get up to speed on Jeffco school issues by attending the next board of education study session this upcoming Thursday at 7p.m. Details about the study session are posted at
Also, if you have any ideas, school choice week begins January 23-29th and Liberty would be interested in hosting an event if you have any suggestions. Details about school choice week at

Red Rocks Gets Covered on Face the State!

Jeff, Chapter President of the Liberty on the Rocks Red Rocks, wants to make each meeting better every time.  He is always warning people that if they skip just one meeting – they never know what they’ll be missing out on!
