Learn How to Become a Citizen Auditor!

Liberty on the Rocks has teamed up in the past with Amy Oliver of Mothers Against Debt and the Independence Institute throughout Colorado and in Milwaukee. The result has been well over 100 individuals trained to be citizen auditors in their local communities along with a number of examples of government waste exposed. We are excited to announce that she is conducing another training on Sunday, March 6th. This event his being hosted by Jen Raiffie and the Tea Party Brewing Company.

From the FB event for the upcoming Citizen Auditor Training:

When: Sunday, March 6 | 1-3PM
Where: Clubhouse 1470 S. Quebec Way Denver, CO 80231

The state is facing a $1 billion budget shortfall. Local governments (including school districts) are claiming poverty. We want to help by encouraging citizens to become active in exposing how the government spends our money and how they can provide cost savings for government.

Amy will teach concerned citizens how to use the state’s Transparency Online Project (TOP) web site, our Vendor Web site and how to submit a CORA request. They will also touch on local budgets and school districts as well. Using these tools, the Institute will encourage attendees to search for particular expenditures and to get as much detailed information about them as possible

Come learn how to be a citizen auditor and hold your elected officials accoutable. Amy Oliver will present this free 2 hour training session. If you are concerned about Broomfield City Council, Jefferson County School Board, and other elected officials, please come. Learn how to demand transparency and create transparency. This is what we need to combat ICLEI, Agenda 21, School Boards who are failing our kids in favor of Unions, and legislators with a progressive and socialist agenda. Call them out!

Counter SEIU Rally to be held at the State Capitol!

The Northern Colorado Tea Party is organizing a counter protest against the upcoming “Union Solidarity Action Rallies” taking place across the country, including at our State Capitol in Denver.

The counter rally will meet:

“… on the sidewalk on the west side of the Capitol – where we will express our First Amendment rights and cannot be asked to leave.”

The rally is to take place from 12:00-1:30.

They ask attendees to, “Bring your signs, your flags, your friends – or just bring your body down on your lunch break.”

RSVP or get more information on the Tea Party Counter-Rally here.

Liberty on the Rocks supports the philosophy that governments should not spend more than then they bring in through taxes; and should not take from taxpayers more than is necessary. We encourage you to attend this rally as a way to educate and inform others – to discuss the fact that we have an unsustainable debt problem that must be addressed immediately. There is no doubt this will be painful, but we must all be willing to give up certain government “hand-outs”, starting with those not permitted by the US Constitution.

Disclaimer: Liberty on the Rocks is a 501(c)(3) non-partisan organization and does not endorse specific legislation and/or candidates. We support liberty, which includes being free from debt that is racked up by others in our name.

What Are the Tea Parties All About?

Amanda Teresi, President of Liberty on the Rocks, was recently on a local PBS show Studio 12 to discuss the Tea Party Movement with other activists in the liberty movement.

Denver 9/12 Rally

It’s always nice to be surrounded by those who understand the importance of liberty, and it’s even better when they are people who plan to fight for it.  That was the feeling I got from this past rally on the steps of the state capitol in Denver, Colorado.  There was a good turnout of about 1,500-2,500 people (I’m terrible at estimating, but I got the figures from a few other sources).  Those who spoke discussed the importance of liberty and the reasons why we must get it back in this country, as it has been missing for some time.

One of the speakers, Jon Caldara of the Independence Institute, made it clear that we the people are the last line of defense against the onslaught of socialism.  It will not be up to the politicians in the next few years to determine the fate of the country, it will be up to us.  And we MUST take a stand! Watch the second half of his speech:

I could not agree more with this assertion and so I urge everyone to do what they can to fight for freedom.  It can be as simple as using your voice.  Tell your friends, your family and your neighbors.  Educate yourself on the issues to be sure you can fully articulate the morality of capitalism and free markets.  From there, spread the word!  America needs us to fight for liberty  – so who is with me?
