Thanks to Dr. Diana Hsieh for joining a packed house last Wednesday at Liberty on the Rocks Denver! With over 50 liberty-enthusiasts, including a few students from the local DU, this made for a lively discussion with plenty of Q & A and cheers from the audience.
Thanks to Ari Armstrong, if you were unable to make our last happy hour you can get a small taste of the discussion by watching this video.
With LOTR happy hour running from 6-9pm, we had plenty of time for social networking and booze drinking. We kicked the night off with a fun debate between Dr. Diana Hsieh (Philosophy in Action) and Justin Longo (Economic Cycles) on the topic of self-ownership. While both philosophers agreed that we do indeed own ourself, this interesting debate boiled down to how to best describe this point of view, and whether or not it was a ’starting point’ for all liberty-related arguments.
We were also joined by Dr. Hsieh’s husband, Dr. Paul Hsieh – one of the founders of Freedom and Individual Rights in Medicine (FIRM), an organization that “…promotes the philosophy of individual rights, personal responsibility, and free market economics in health care.” So there was definitely no lack of interesting, intelligent individuals to talk with.
If you haven’t stopped by a Liberty on the Rocks happy hour in Denver, I hope you’ve gotten a taste of exactly what it is you’re missing. So stop by one of our next social hours to get connected with other liberty enthusiasts and to stay on top of free market education and philosophy. Our next event in April will be just as exciting as our last, as we will be joined by Harris Kenny of the Reason Foundation to discuss the controversial topic of privatization.
Hope to see you there!
