About us!

Liberty on the Rocks is a non-profit libertarian organization designed to educate, connect, and activate liberty enthusiasts around the world. Through local chapters and events, citizens and activists throughout the country can increase the size of their networks, enhance their understanding of economics and the philosophy of freedom, widen their knowledge of local and national educational outlets, and increase their opportunities for involvement. LOTR is a meeting place for voluntarists, classical liberals, libertarians, civil libertarians, free marketers, and those curious or new to the ideas of liberty. It is a place to discuss the ideas of liberty and strategies to achieve as much freedom as possible. It is not a place for electoral politics.

Liberty on the Rocks was started in late 2008 by Joe Weaver, Justin Longo and Amanda Muell following the desire to create a fun environment for liberty minded individuals that wasn’t just another political activist group. Following Joe and Justin’s discovery of the group “Drinking Liberally,” the three of them decided to create a similar organization for libertarians and Amanda came up with the name “Liberty on the Rocks. The first chapter was started in Denver, CO and continues to run to this day. More chapters were created all over the world with over 30 chapters at its peak, including chapters in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Cambodia, Germany, Puerto Rico and Singapore to name a few. Following Covid-19 Lockdowns several chapters are no longer active but LOTR National is working to help restore those chapters and start new ones all over the world!

Liberty on the Rocks National is a decentralized organization that provides support for individual chapters.
